Privacy Policy
- The free game may show ads. Our ad provider collects device and ad-interaction data to show and measure ads; where the law or your device settings require it, we ask before ads are personalised.
- You can buy an in-app purchase to remove ads. Payment is handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card details.
- No analytics of our own, and we don't sell your data.
- Your settings and best score stay on your device.
- If you use the online leaderboard, we store a random player ID, the display name you pick, and your scores. Your name and scores are public on the leaderboard.
- You can ask us to delete your leaderboard data at any time: hello@coderocktechnologies.com.
1. Who we are
Dodge Racer (the game, on the web, Android and iOS) is made by Code Rock Technologies ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we apply the same care to players everywhere.
2. Information that stays on your device
The game saves a few things in your browser's or app's local storage so they're still there next time: your best score, the car and colour you picked, your camera view, and whether tilt steering is on. This never leaves your device unless you use the online features below. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app deletes it.
Tilt steering reads your device's motion sensor while the game is running, only to steer the car. Sensor readings are not stored or sent anywhere.
3. Information we collect for the online leaderboard
When the online leaderboard is available and you play with an internet connection, the game creates an anonymous player account for your installation. We then collect:
| What | Why | Public? |
|---|---|---|
| A random player ID and a sign-in token (kept on your device) | To tell your scores apart from other players' without knowing who you are | No |
| The display name you choose (optional; otherwise "Driver" plus a short code) | To show you on the leaderboard | Yes |
| Your scores, how long each run lasted, the time it was played, and whether it was on web, Android or iOS | To rank players, show all-time and weekly boards, and detect impossible scores | Scores and rank: yes. Run length and platform: no |
| Your IP address and basic request details, as logged by our hosting providers | To deliver the service, limit abuse (for example, too many sign-ups or submissions), and fix problems | No |
We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or photos to use the leaderboard.
Optional sign-in with Google (or Apple)
If we offer it and you choose to link a Google or Apple account so you can keep your progress across devices, we receive from that provider your account identifier and the email address on the account. We use these only to sign you in and recover your progress. They are never shown on the leaderboard. You can play without linking any account.
4. Advertising
To keep the game free, it may show ads, for example a banner or a short ad between runs. Ads are served by a third-party advertising provider (such as Google AdMob in the apps, or Google AdSense on the web). When an ad is requested, shown or tapped, the provider may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android advertising ID or Apple's IDFA, only if you allow it);
- your IP address and the approximate location it indicates (city or region, not precise location);
- device and app details, such as model, operating system, language and app version;
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown or tapped, and diagnostic data about ad loading.
On the web, ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies for the same purposes.
The provider uses this to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance, prevent ad fraud and, if permitted, personalise ads. It handles this data under its own privacy policy (for Google: policies.google.com/technologies/ads). We don't give the ad provider your leaderboard name, scores or sign-in details.
Your ad choices
- Consent: where required (for example in the EU, the UK, or on iOS through Apple's tracking prompt), we ask before ads are personalised or your advertising identifier is used for tracking. If you say no, you still get ads, but they are not personalised.
- Device settings: you can reset or delete your advertising ID (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads) or turn off tracking for apps (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Remove ads: buy the ad-free upgrade (below) and the game stops requesting ads.
5. In-app purchases
You can make an in-app purchase to remove ads. Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their terms and privacy policies. We never receive your payment card details. We receive a purchase confirmation from the store (a transaction or purchase token, the product bought, its status and date) and check it with the store so we can turn ads off and restore your purchase, for example after reinstalling. If you're signed in to the leaderboard, we may link the purchase to your player account so it applies wherever you sign in.
6. How we use information
- Run the leaderboard: store your scores, rank players, and show your position.
- Keep it fair: check scores against how long a run lasted, stop reused or forged submissions, and remove cheating or offensive names.
- Show ads in the free game (through our ad provider, as described in section 4), and remove them when you buy the ad-free upgrade.
- Keep the service secure and working, and respond to your requests.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
7. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf, only to run the game:
- Supabase hosts the leaderboard database and player accounts. Our database is located in South Korea (Seoul region).
- Vercel hosts the web version of the game on a global network.
- jsDelivr delivers the open-source 3D library (three.js) to the web version. The Android app bundles it and does not use jsDelivr.
- Our advertising provider (such as Google AdMob or AdSense) shows ads in the free game, as described in section 4.
- Google or Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Google Play and the Apple App Store distribute the apps and process in-app purchases under their own privacy policies.
Because these providers operate outside Australia, your information may be stored or processed overseas, including in South Korea and the United States. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
8. How long we keep it
- Leaderboard scores and display names: for as long as the leaderboard runs, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Anonymous player accounts that never post a score may be deleted after 30 days.
- Purchase records: for as long as needed to provide and restore your purchase, and as required by tax and accounting laws.
- Hosting logs: kept by our providers for a short period, typically days to weeks.
- Advertising data: kept by the ad provider under its own retention policy.
9. Your choices and rights
- Play offline. The game works without the leaderboard; nothing is sent to us while you're offline, and no ads load.
- Change your name in the game at any time.
- Access, correct or delete. Email hello@coderocktechnologies.com. Tell us your display name, your platform and roughly when you last played so we can find your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Complaints. Contact us first and we'll try to fix it. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or to your local data-protection authority.
Uninstalling the app or clearing browser data removes the sign-in token from your device. Your scores then stay on the leaderboard under your display name, but you can no longer sign in to that anonymous account. Email us if you'd like them removed.
10. Children
Dodge Racer is a casual game suitable for all ages, but the online leaderboard is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond an anonymous player ID and a display name. We ask players not to use their real name as a display name. If we learn a player is under 13, or if the law in your country requires it, ads are not personalised. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Leaderboard data can only be changed through checked server-side functions, and players cannot read other players' private details. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes, for example when new online features launch. We'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the game or in the store listing.
